Ortband nach Originalen des 10.Jh., Skandinavien & Deutschland. Außenmaße ca. 4,4 x 8,3 x 2,4 cm. Innenmaß ca. 4 x 2 cm. Messing.

Achtung: es hat meist keinen Sinn, eine bestehende Schwertscheid nachträglich mit einem Ortband auszustatten. Die Scheide sollte passend für das Ortband gefertigt werden.
Oft geht die Schwertspitze auch nicht bis in das Ortband hinein, sondern die Schwertscheide ist etwas länger als das Schwert gearbeitet. Sonst wäre die Stärke an der Spitze zu breit (Schwert, Holz und Leder).
Die Ortbänder verfügen wie die Originale nicht über Bohrungen für Nägel oder Nietstifte. Man sollte die Ortbänder also streng sitzend anbringen und kleben, oder man bohrt sich selbst Löcher für Befestigungsstifte.
