Viking Age oval or turtle brooches, solidly crafted, with a sturdy needle, cast bronze. The brooches have a hole for attaching a pearl necklace or something similar. Dimensions approx. 7 x 4.8 x 2.5 cm. So-called “Birka type”, which was widespread in the Baltic Sea region. They can be dated from around 850 - 950 AD. Oval brooches were rarely unique pieces but were often real "mass productions". There are usually several finds of the same brooches. This type was found in Birka, for example, in the graves 504 and 431.
